Biden Explains Democrat Iraq Plan

I read this post which discusses Joe Biden's interpretation of the Democrats plan for Iraq.

Basically, Biden says that the time for a surge has passed and what we should be spending our remaining minutes in Iraq on is training the Iraqi military to deal with an emerging civil war. But as Peddler points out, the notion that we can spend all our resources training their soldiers and do no actual fighting puts us in a precarious position and leaves our soldiers more vulnerable to attack. After all, why not attack American soldiers if they aren't going to fight back?

It seems to me that Biden's position is simply more lipstick on the Democratic pig. They want out soon enough to keep their moonbat side under control but close enough to the 2008 election so that they can use it as a campaign issue. They also need the pullout late enough so that the collapse in Iraq after we leave can't be blamed on their cut-and-run strategy. If Bush is smart, he'll force the Democrats to be more open in their unsupportiveness of our mission and that will make a better campaign issue. Most Americans want us to leave, but only once we've stabilized the area. If they understood that this wasn't a short-term mission, they would accept the hardship involved.
