Why Aren't We Hearing about Iraq Anymore?

Via Protein Wisdom, we find that Baghdad is becoming a much safer place since the president's surge plan went into effect.

Bomb deaths have gone down 30 percent in Baghdad since the U.S.-led security crackdown began a month ago. Execution-style slayings are down by nearly half. The once frequent sound of weapons has been reduced to episodic, and downtown shoppers have returned to outdoor markets favored targets of car bombers.

There are signs of progress in the campaign to restore order in Iraq, starting with its capital city.

As I've watched, listened to, and read the "news" about Scooter Libby and Attorneygate, I've wondered what was happening in Iraq and why the MSM isn't covering it anymore. I guess the fact that the violence has dropped 30% just isn't news in the same way firing political appointees is news.

Or maybe it has to do with what the MSM wants people to focus on. Don't look at the war if it is going well. If you do, you might not support the various Democratic cut-and-run resolutions.
