Can't tell your black from your African American? Your GLBT from your GLBTQ2IA? Your Hispanic from your Latino from your Chicano? Cheer up! The Politically Correct lexicon is here to help you. (Via ifeminists.net).
The list is an interesting mix of generational as well as culture speech. For example, when I was growing up "black" was the preferred term. Then "African American" came into vogue. Now, it seems that "black" is back in fashion.
There was also all that confusion about what to call brown people who come from Mexico, Central America, South America, or the Caribbean. This lexicon gives some distinction between the various words used interchangably in society.
Regardless of how you feel about the politically correct movement and its effects on speech, this article is worth a read.
