Democrats Honor Their Commitments....Riiiight....

According to this Huffington Post story, the Nevada Democratic Party today showed their comitment to honoring commitments...by backing out of the previously scheduled August debates on FOX News.

The excuse given? That Roger Ailes compared Barak Obama to a terrorist.

I've read the remarks and, yes, you can read his joke that way. But you can also read it to mean that Obama is a serious contender. In other words, offense is in the eye of the beholder.

But really, this is just an excuse so the Democrats can--yet again--show how little commitments mean to them. The moonbats hate FOX News with a passion unparalleled by conservatives. When was the last time right-wingers mounted boycotts of ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, and CNN because their news coverage is so blatantly biased?

But no, the Nevada Democratic Party was looking for a reason to back out of this debate because so many moonbats were clutching their pearls at the prospect of a Democratic debate on FOX News. The horror!

At a Radio-Television News Directors Association and Foundation dinner where he received an award tonight, Ailes referred to the decision in his acceptance speech: "Pressure groups are forcing candidates to conclude that the best strategy for journalists is divide and conquer, to only appear on those networks and venues that give them favorable coverage...This pressure must be resisted, as it has been in the past. Any candidate for high office of either party who believes he can blacklist any news organization is making a terrible mistake,'' Ailes said, adding that the strategy would surely backfire with voters. Ailes made the controversial comments about Obama at the same event.

I'm curious how this fits into the whole "free speech" thing Democrats are always saying they favor. They only favor outlets that don't challenge them?

UPDATE: HotAir points out the hypocrisy of John Edwards "principled" decision not to participate in this debate.
You can thank Silky Pony for giving this creepy, ideologically puritanical movement some media momentum. It was his firm, principled, anti-Fox “leadership” in pulling out of the debate that pushed this story into the news and put pressure on Reid (who scarcely needs encouragement in this area) to have the Nevada Dems revisit the terms of the debate.
Which brings us to our exit question: If this shameless, pandering jackass is such an inveterate Fox-hater, what was he doing on Hannity & Colmes six weeks ago after the State of the Union — his 33rd appearance on the network since August 2000?

Oh, because that's different, you see.

UPDATE: The Las Vegas Review-Journal puts the nutroots behavior in perspective.
This hyperventilation results from the fact that far-left Democrats have no comparable media outlet, nor any widespread national appeal, for their radical views in favor of heavy-handed regulation, wealth redistribution, diplomatic capitulation and economic protectionism. So they attack their rivals' messenger with a reckless barrage of rhetoric that cuts down their own allies with friendly fire.
