There's a delicious irony watching the pearl-clutching of the Left at the very idea that John McCain would stoop to using Obama's words against him.
It calls McCain's integrity into question. It makes him unfit for higher office! Worst of all, it's stupid.
I suppose it wasn't stupid when liberal bloggers were piling on about McCain's "gaffes," and mischaracterizing his speech. McCain mixes up Shia and Sunni? It's just proof that he's senile. Oh! And he wants to keep troops in Iraq 100 years! And did you know he wants to reinstitute the draft?
What's that you say? He said those things? Well, Barack Obama also talked about pigs and lipstick, knowing that "lipstick" is a word associated with the Republican vice presidential pick. Cry as much as he wants that he wasn't talking about Palin but about McCain's policies, his wording was deliberate and the crowd reacted to it.
You can't complain in July about dog whistles and cry foul when you are accused of using code language in September. If you think it's ok to claim that skinny means black, then don't be surprised when "lipstick" becomes "woman."
But rest assured, I'm sure the Democrats have every right to be morally outraged. After all, it's not like Democrat officials are saying that Palin's only qualification is that she hasn't had an abortion or anything else equally vile, right?
