For the Record...

-- The passenger forced to cover up his T-shirt in order to get on an airplane deserves the $240,000 he's been awarded. The guy's shirt was in Arabic, which made other passengers uncomfortable. Sorry, guys. The First Amendment specifically allows you to be uncomfortable.

-- Roland Burris should be seated in the U.S. Senate. There's nothing barring the seating of a member because a state's governor is under investigation. Regardless of how one feels about Blagojevich, he's still the governor and had the right to appoint Burris. For Democrats to refuse to seat him shows how little regard for democracy Democrats actually have. When the guy they want doesn't get in, they want to nullify the results. This is as true in 2009 as it was in 2000.

-- Judging from his cabinet nominees, Barack Obama lacks discernment as well as experience. Sanjay Gupta for Surgeon General? Well, at least this guy's got an M.D., as opposed to Panetta's experience in intelligence work. Having a medical media mouthpiece fill the role of medical media mouthpiece isn't the worst thing, I suppose, but doesn't Obama know anyone with actual experience to fill these positions? Or is it all about kissing and making up with those constituents offended by a five-minute lapse?

-- Whatever the reasons for canceling her, booking Ann Coulter for tomorrow's Today show is about as close to "Oops, we screwed up" as we're likely to see from the MSM. NBC says they didn't ban Coulter "for life," but haven't offered up a better explanation. Does anyone really believe that Perez Hilton could only have done an interview today, rather than tomorrow? It sounds to me like there was some heat applied to NBC for caving to the morons at Media Matters and sounder minds prevailed.
