I found it encouraging to read that Senator Tim Johnson may be returning to Capitol Hill by the fall.
If you recall, Johnson suffered a brain hemorrhage in December and there were some worried that he wouldn't recover, but it looks like he is making remarkable strides.
I may not agree with Johnson politically, but it is heartening to see him returning to a more normal life.
Hi Sharon! I have to comment on this as Tim Johnson is one of my senators! Of course, being a librul I tend to agree with him on most things, but a few years ago I remember him going against the party line and sticking with the position that was most beneficial for South Dakota. I think I admired him even more for that! (I cant remember what the issue was tho, duh!)
ReplyDeleteI also enjoyed the blog post on your dad.
In Texas, we've had Democrats who looked more like Republicans than the Republican candidates, which was very frustrating when I was a "librul" (I love that, btw). :)
ReplyDeleteBut yes, your senator should do what's best for your state FIRST because he is accountable to you. That's why I get frustrated when I see my senators & congressman doing things that they know are detrimental to our state just because "the party" endorses it.
And thanks for the comment about my dad! He's a great guy & I like for people to know that. :)
Well, I know your dad is a pretty good guy by the girl he raised! Please give him a birthday hug for me!
